Alquimétricas LAB is an open and collaborative maker and STEAM education platform focused on open source and DIY modular systems.


Who has carried out the project?

Alquimétricas is an international collective of educators, makers, artists and communicators committed to open and accessible education. It was founded in 2015 by the Argentine Fernando Daguanno.


What is the project about?

The LAB is the digital incarnation and post-pandemic response of a maker project that was mainly focused on presence. How to give continuity to STEAM education in the context of distance and scarcity of resources? Our open and collaborative proposal is proposed as a scale solution for the challenges of technological inclusion in the Global South.


What is the purpose of this project?

Promote the maker and DIY culture and the familiarization of technology, science and the arts through play, as well as making it accessible and affordable, especially in contexts of social vulnerability.


How does the project work? (Technologies used, user experience, etc.)

A part happens online through a website that integrates WordPress, YouTube and Web Monetization based on Cool.

The face-to-face part is carried out using digital technologies such as laser or CNC cutting, as well as manual tools and recycled materials.


What does this project contribute to the Maker Community?

A simplified, economical, open and collaborative method to empower socially vulnerable children and youth with technological education resources.
