This year, during the Maker Faire Galicia, the fourth edition of the Game Maker Jam will be held, an event that has been improving year after year in the number of participants and the quality of the video games presented. For those who are not familiar with the term "Game Jam", it is a competition in which the participants must create video game prototypes in a free and almost improvised way, within a certain period of time. The objective is to encourage experimentation and innovation in the video game industry.
The central theme of this year's Game Maker Jam will be revealed during the professional days, on June 1, and will be communicated through social networks at 5:00 p.m. The competition will start at that time and end on June 3 at 6:00 p.m. A jury made up of professionals and academics related to the video game sector will assess the developments and the winners will be announced during the Maker Faire Galicia awards ceremony, on the 4th at 7:00 p.m. Winners will receive an official GameMakerJam trophy.
This competition seeks to encourage creativity and the development of video games, as well as serve as a platform to meet people and establish relationships between the participants. The competition will be completely online and any person or group can participate without restrictions, but the same person can only be part of one team and the teams can be a maximum of 3 people.
In addition, this year the Maker Faire Galicia will have a space dedicated exclusively to the Game Jam, for those developers who wish to create their video games at the fair itself and live an incredible experience. There will also be several workshops related to the world of video games.
